Who We are
Bruce, at age 19, began auctioning in 1975 after completing Auction School in Decatur, IL. Bruce began his services by holding several local large farm and antique auctions in the surrounding areas. Bruce also ran an auction house in Shelbyville, IL in the late 70’s and early 80’s. He sold it in 1982 when Max Tabbert joined him in the early 80’s to become Krile-Tabbert Auction Service. Max and Bruce had many successful auctions throughout the 1980's and 1990's. After 50 years of auctioning Max retired in 2003. After Max's retirement, Bruce’s son, Justin, who had been working the ring since 8 years old and auctioning since he was 12, joined the business full time, and they have been Krile Auction Service since. Bruce was raised on a farm and still continues farming today. Justin has a BS in Econ/Fin from SIUE and a MS in Applied Economics from SIUE. After moving home from Edwardsville in August of 2009, Justin began to propel Krile Auction Service into the forefront of auction companies and in 2013 Bruce turned the Auction Service over to Justin. In March of 2014, Justin bought out friend and fellow auctioneer, Bob Lamendola from Sullivan, IL, which helped expand Krile Auction Service into Moultrie County. Also in 2014, Justin brought in computers to clerk and cashier instead of the hand written style that had been done for ages. June of 2015 brought further expansion as Justin purchased the large brick building at 101 North Walnut (Former Cass’s building). With renovations on going, Krile Auction had its first indoor auction late August of that year. At that time, wagons and trucks were pulled into the building to have the auction. Now, 33 rolling 4’x8’ tables line the building with collectibles while there’s still plenty of room for large items The auctioneers sell from the stage with over 100 seats available for bidders. Often, it’s standing room only! Krile Auction saw even further growth when in 2020 they began offering online auctions as an option for the sellers. With the growth of Krile Auction Service, Justin hired Mark Stoneburner to work ring and help with the auctioning duties in 2022. Coming up in 2025, it will be Bruce Krile’s 50th year in the auction business.
